About the Department

We are now looking for a substitute for an employee who will be on parental leave.

The Pathology Laboratory within Clinical Pathology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is an organization in transition with a new laboratory information system set to launch in 2026, focusing heavily on digitization within the laboratory and diagnostics.

The laboratory employs about 90 people, mainly biomedical analysts, making it the largest pathology laboratory in the country. The laboratory examines cell and tissue samples for the presence of pathological changes. This is primarily done using light microscopy, and the pathology laboratories process the tissue samples for this examination.

About the Job

At the Pathology Laboratories, we work in teams and collaborate with other professional categories such as laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, and doctors. The position involves assisting with cutting, independent cutting, frozen sectioning, paraffin embedding, sectioning, scanning, and image review, as well as immuno- and histochemical staining. There is also handling of urgent samples. We are a pleasant workplace with competent colleagues where we have opportunities for professional development according to the needs of the organization. The position is currently located in the urology/gynecology section, which has about 14 employees.

About You

For the position, you must be a licensed biomedical analyst. Experience in specimen cutting and work in a histopathological laboratory is advantageous.

To succeed in this role, we see that you have the desire to contribute to the best for the patient and to a good working environment. You have good collaboration skills, a positive attitude, and are flexible in your work. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills.
